Hacker Games Record: 300 participants, 49 projects

Last weekend Kaunas KTU Santaka Valley hosted record-breaking Hacker Games: more than 300 young talents developed 49 innovative prototypes. 12 of them were announced winners and received financial incentives for further development of their ideas.

Record-breaking Hacker Games took place at KTU Santaka Valley on the first weekend in March, 2018

The 11th hackathon of the annual Hacker Games series had teams competing in 4 tracks: software, games, hardware and health.

First place in Software Track and 800 EUR from TeleSoftas and Tesonet was won by ARTB team, who developed a new digital artform – web graffiti.

“We are excited to be part of the initiative, which engages people to participate. Taking part in the processes is the essential condition for conception of new ideas. All the teams and all their ideas indicate the huge potential of technologies today – to achieve changes we only need to trust each other”, said Algirdas Stonys, the founder and general manager of TeleSoftas.

One-man-team Interesting Arena, who created an astounding Pac-Man spin-off took the first place in Games Track. He won 1,000 EUR for an industry trip from Game Insight, and Free exhibition booth & VIP tickets to GameON Conference from GameOn.

In Hardware Track the first place and 600 EUR from Tesonet and Telesoftas was won by Gold Digger team, who presented an advanced gold detector using camera.

In Health Track, the first place and 1,000 EUR and the Invitation to a two-day Life Sciences Entrepreneurship Masterclasses from Society of Innovative Medicine was won by StrokeBGone. The team created a platform for stroke treatment using kinesiotherapic methods in virtual reality.

The devise, created by the team Vibrovision, which helps blind people to find their way in the surroundings has been recognised as the most perspective innovation and was awarded 500 euros from Kaunas University of Technology (KTU).

“VibroVision members have developed technologically very complicated device in two days. This signifies about the maturity of the team and their deep knowledge of the problem. The device has great potential for further development as it solves the real problems of the blind people community. We believe that the team with the help of academic community will work on perfecting of the product created during the hackathon”, said Tomas Proscevičius, Business Development Specialist at KTU Startup Space.

Among 49 projects developed during Hacker Games in Kaunas 17 were software, 17 games, 7 hardware and 8 health track projects.
