Jurgita Šiugždinienė Elected Vice-President for CESAER

Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Rector ad Interim Jurgita Šiugždinienė was elected vice-president for the organisation uniting most important science and technology universities in Europe – CESAER. She will be supervising the development of strategy in studies’ field.

CESAER (Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research) board meeting took place in Glasgow, United Kingdom last week. During the meeting, the executive team, which will assist the President of the Conference, professor Sir Jim McDonald, the Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde to implement long-term strategy and most immediate goals of the organisation, was elected.

Karel Luyben, Delft University (the Netherlands) Rector emeritus was elected as vice-president for research, Sigbritt Karlsson, the President of KTH Royal Technology Institute (Sweden) was appointed as vice-president for leadership, and Wyne Kaplan, Israeli Technology Institute Vice-President will be responsible for innovations field.

Jurgita Šiugždienienė, vice-president for studies will be supervising the processes in the study field, and one of her initial tasks is to outline the Conference’s vision for the human resources needed for the development of science and technologies in the 21st century.

CESAER, founded in 1990, unites 51 leading universities of science and technology in 26 countries. It is an acknowledged main research stakeholder organisation for the European Research Area. KTU has been a member of CESAER for more than a decade; in 2015 the University has become the CESAER board member.
