Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Council has announced the public international competition for the position of the University’s Rector. The official start of the election process is Monday 11 December.

The Rector is being elected in public international competition and appointed by the KTU Council, which is operating according to the Law on Higher Education and Research of Lithuania, KTU Statute and other legislations. The election process is being organised by the work group assembled from the Council members. The term of office for the Rector is 5 years.

“KTU is one of strongest universities in Lithuania, known for the high competences of graduates and research and innovation across the region and among foreign investors. We hope that the competition will be of interest to both Lithuanian and overseas candidates, and we are convinced that KTU will have a strong leader, having a distinct vision for the University’s future”, says Dalius Misiūnas, Head of the Council.

He emphasised the maximum transparency of the process: all the candidates will have sufficient time to prepare to the elections, to introduce themselves to the KTU community and to answer all the questions.

Persons with impeccable reputation, possessing academic degree or official status of a renowned artist can participate in the election. International experience in educational field and management competencies are required from the successful candidates. The same person can be elected for the position of the Rector for no more than two 5-year terms.

All the documents needed for applying to the KTU Rector’s position must be submitted by 3.45 pm on 30 March 2018.
