During Lithuania's integration in the European Union, the need for specialists of accounting, management accounting, assessing of companies and internal audit increased and Department of Accounting was established at KTU in 1999. Its initiator and founder is prof. dr. Vytautas Boguslauskas.

Three examinations of ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification (F1-F3) and seven examinations of foundation level are organized there.

ACCA ensures career possibilities for anybody, who has graduated from or works at the university or school of higher education. ACCA is one of the biggest and fastest growing international organizations of accountants. ACCA qualification provides knowledge and skills, which enable qualified specialists of audit, accounting and finance to pursue a successful international career not only at audit and accounting companies, but also at other companies of public or private sectors. ACCA studies are particularly relevant for people, who want to become qualified experts in various business sectors and have three years of work experience.

Ingrida Šimonytė
Deputy Chairwoman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania (since 2013)
"Who else could tell us – owners and employees, investors and creditors, state and citizens – how things are, if not accounting specialists? And who could confirm that what is said by accounting specialists is true, if not auditors? Both of these professions are vertebra of market economy, they provide the most significant resource – information, required for decision making."
Gintarė Venckaitytė
UAB “Price waterhouse Coopers”, Assistant Auditor
"I have a very positive approach towards studies of audit and accounting. During lectures we performed interesting, practical tasks that could be applied in the area of work. Good and competent lecturers, including the ones from the business world, provided us with useful advices, based on science and also on their life experience. I personally, liked modules of Consolidated Accounting and Analysis of Companies, Evaluation of Assets and Business, Audit, Internal Audit, Value-based Management, which helped me acquire necessary and valuable knowledge, deepen my knowledge of accounting, and acquire basic knowledge of audit that was useful in my professional career."
