Department of Management

Department of Management is one of the oldest departments of the University. The other departments were formed prior to this one: In 1992 it was named Department of Production Management, in 1997 – Department of Companies Management and since 1999 – Department of Management. From 1992 till 2012 Department was managed by prof. dr. Algimantas Sakalas. Now Department is managed by prof. dr. Asta Savanevičienė.

Mission of Department of Management: meeting of society's needs by providing teaching and consultation services of good quality, and actively performing scientific research in the areas of management and economics.
Vision of Department of Management: highly qualified personnel, developing competitive and entrepreneurial specialists and scientists, capable to perform efficiently in the country's economy, performing high level scientific research and cooperating with local and foreign scientific and economic partners in the areas of management and economics.Functions of Department of Management:

  • Performance of study programmes of Human Resource Management, Organization Management, Project Management, Management and Business economics, and preparation of Bachelor and Master students;
  • Performance of scientific research;
  • Participation in international and national projects;
  • Provision of consultation services.

Department curates Bachelor students of Human Resource Management, Management and Business Economics, Master students of Management, Project Management, Human Resource Management, Organization Management and Business Economics, and participates in preparation of Doctoral students in Management and Economics fields.

Department of Management closely cooperates with various Lithuanian and foreign higher schools (faculties of economics and management of Granada, Spain, Siegen, Germany, Erican, Turkey, Riga Technical, Latvia), which perform research in the areas of management and human resource management.

Lecturers of Department of Management present lectures at foreign universities (Turkey, Czech Republic, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Hungary). Also, department is constantly visited by lecturers from foreign universities of Czech Republic, Turkey, Spain, etc., who present lectures to students.

Department of Management performs scientific research works, coordinated with topics of the main research fields of Kaunas University of Technology and complying with performed preparation of specialists in the areas of human resource management and other management functions - strategic management, planning, organization, control. In cooperation with other faculty's departments, Department of Management performs 2 Leonardo da Vinci Transfer of Innovation Projects, 2 Leonardo da Vinci  Multilateral Innovation Promotion Projects and 1 Grundtvig project.

Employees of Department of Management actively participate in international practical seminars (EIASM,  ISM EDEN Doctoral Seminar on Doctoral Dissertation Writing) and promotes the latest scientific knowledge in international conferences (ICIMS 2011, IPEDR 2011,  IATED 2011, 9th International Conference of Knowledge, Economy & Management, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Liberec Economic Forum 2011,  ICERI 2011, International conference on leadership, technology and innovation management, 2011, Istanbul, Turkey- 1st International Conference of Global Human Resource Management, Karmiel, Israel, ICBER 2011, Cairo, Egypt, ICEME-2011, Dubai, United Arab Emirates).

Employees of Department of Management are members of advisory boards of international conferences  (doctoral student Ž. Stankevičiūtė – international conference ICERI 2011 (International Conference of Education, Research and Innovation), took place on 14-16 November 2011)  and experts (prof. dr. S. Vaitkevičius - "Update of Strategic Plan of Radviliškis District Municipality for the Period of 2011-2013", 2011).
